Production Assistant

Position available beginning in August for the 2026-2027 School Year 4.75 hours per day, 9:30 AM - 2:15 PM $16.60 per hour Excellent health insurance, IMRF Pension Vision coverage/Flexible Spending Account/Voluntary Life Insurance available! Supervisor: Director of Food & Nutrition Services Building Principal Kitchen Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Employee Group: At-Will

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Illinois Food Service Sanitation Certification desirable
• Intermediate mathematical and computer skills required
• Ability to relate positively to staff and students
• Manual dexterity, stamina, ability to work with chemical cleaning agents, and strength to lift and carry objects weighing up to 35 lbs.

Terms of Employment:

• Nine (9) month contract

Responsibilities:

• Actively support the mission of the school and district.
• Utilize conscious engagement regarding equity, diversity and inclusion.
• Represent the Harlem Consolidated School District in a professional manner.

Duties:

• Prepare foods using standardized recipes and production records. Responsible for reviewing production records and securing food supplies for estimated menu quantities.
• Set up food on serving line and serve meals or meal components in compliance with USDA regulations.
• Store and handle food and supplies in accordance with instructions.
• Follow prescribed housekeeping and safety procedures to ensure that sanitary and safest conditions are met with regard to health department and USDA program regulations.
• Follow prescribed procedures to protect the anonymity of students who qualify for free and reduced meals.
• Maintain positive working relationships and demonstrate respect for students, staff and parents
• Participate in routine cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment and supplies.
• Keep current with best practices and requirements as they relate to your job assignment.
• Perform such other job related duties and assume such other professional responsibilities as your supervisor may from time to time assign or delegate.
