Job Summary A Safety Managerdevelops, implements, and oversees workplace health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations like OSHA, conducting risk assessments, providing employee training, investigating incidents, and fostering a strong safety culture to prevent accidents, minimize liability, and protect workers.Key duties include daily inspections, analyzing safety data, reporting to management, and acting as a liaison with regulatory bodies and implementingenvironmental,health,andsafety(EHS)policies,procedures, training, inspections, and audits.Assistwithenvironmental,health and safety(EHS)inspections of thedistributioncenter.Driveconsistencywithsafetyincidentinvestigations, fact-finding, data collection and root cause analysis, and corrective actions.You will drive proactive safety cultureengagementthrough risk mitigation andaddressingunsafe behaviors andhazards in the workplace. This position will support both DC and network safety needs. KeyResponsibilities Promotesafety awareness and cultivatedistribution centersafety culture.Works cooperatively and harmoniously withdistribution center management,supervisors, leads, co-workers, andsupport departments. Understand and ensureregulatorycompliance with all state and federal regulatory laws andregulations. Completesassigned safetyprojects and tasksindependently and work well within a team environment. Conduct safety training(new hire, refresher, job specific, powered industrial truck)sessions forassociatesand contractors. Inspectsworking conditions to ensure allareasand activities are compliant withhealth andsafety guidelines. Create and manage comprehensive health and safety plans, procedures, and emergency response plans. Conduct regular hazard identification, risk assessments, and audits of facilities, machinery, and processes. Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local safety laws (e.g., OSHA) and industry standards. Develop and deliver safety training, including new hire orientations, to promote a safety-first mindset. Compile data, track safety KPIs (like incident rates), andsubmitrequired reports to management and regulatory agencies. Champion safety initiatives, motivate employees, and promote a proactive safety culture. Serve as the point of contact for safety with internal teams (HR, Operations) and external entities (clients, contractors, regulators). Coordinatesaccidentinvestigations, safetyreview meetings and safetycommitteemeetings as needed. Suggests revisions tooperationalprocess methods and employee activity that does not meet health and safetyexpectations. Addresses any workplace-related healthand safetyissues andaccidents. Collaboratecloselywithdistribution centerleadership tomonitorcompliance andidentifyhealth andsafety issues. Dailymonitoringreportsandimpacts in i -warehousesoftware. (site specific) Keep work areassafe, organized, and clean according to general warehousing/office practices and OSHA requirements daily. Conducthealth andsafety audits on operational compliancewithsafety policies and procedures. Participate inpost-injury and incident investigations and evaluations. Inspects liftsafety equipment such asfire exits, emergency lights, fire suppression systems, fire Extinguishers,first Aid Kits,emergencyeyewashes, and other safety equipment. Coordinatessafetytraining forassociates withPowered Industrial Trucks(PIT), classroom, and floorpracticalcertifications. Performs security functions, such as monitor associates when entering the building, issue badges and other security functions as needed. Lead and drive participation on theDCsafety committee on all shifts. Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent Possesses strong leadershipand collaborationskills. PriorEnvironmental,Health and Safety Experiencein distribution center environments Exhibits knowledge ofappropriate emergencyresponseprotocols. Exhibits strong organizational skills. Possess solid problem-solving and analytical abilities. Excellent attendance and willingness to be part of a team - performing whatever duties are necessary. MS Office Proficient: Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel (Intermediate to Advanced) Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary Ability to multitask andpossessresearchskills. Positive attitude, strong work ethic , ability to work under pressure, and be a fastlearner. Flexibility to work and support DCshift schedules asrequired. Independent worker with ability to manage own workloadwith minimal supervision ordirection. Ability toalways maintainconfidentiality and discretion. Experience: Prior safety and warehouse experienceto include ability to operate powered industrial trucks required Experience with Safety Management Systems such as KPA/Novara Flex preferred Machines, Tools, Equipment (Office and Industrial), Software: Warehouse management system terminal, calculator, fax machine, copier, and telephone. Microsoft office with intermediate Excel focus. Preferred Qualifications OSHA 10Houror30HourCertifications. Bachelors / associate degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can beacquired. Working Conditions: Work is typically carried out in a warehouse setting, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and physical demands. Work hours may vary based on safety support/ training needs andoperationalschedules. A Safety Coordinator is supportive in ensuring that warehouse staff receive the necessary safety support and training to excel in their roles, contributing to the overall safety of the warehouse operations.
