Prevention Specialist

Prevention SpecialistUnited Activities Unlimited, Inc. (UAU) is a Staten Island-based community organization providing youth development, education, and community support services. The Prevention Specialist supports OASAS-funded prevention programming by delivering evidence-based education, outreach, and counseling services to at-risk youth and community members. This role focuses on assessment, prevention counseling, community engagement, and documentation while supporting positive youth development and reducing risk factors related to substance use, violence, and family stressors. This position requires regular travel throughout Staten Island.Required Job QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Social Services, Early Childhood Education, or a related field requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageFluent Spanish requiredReliable transportation and a valid driver's license requiredMinimum of two years of experience working with youth ages 5 to 18Experience providing prevention, counseling, outreach, or youth servicesProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive, and virtual platformsStrong verbal, written, and problem-solving communication skillsAbility to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environmentWillingness to take initiative and maintain a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekendsDemonstrated cultural competence and respect for individuals' diverse backgrounds and abilitiesPhysical RequirementsAbility to work in a standard office environment using typical office equipmentAbility to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workdayAbility to remain in a stationary position for portions of the dayAbility to work both indoors and outdoors based on program needs and weather conditionsAbility to travel to multiple program sites throughout Staten IslandAbility to communicate clearly and exchange accurate informationAbility to observe details at close rangeEqual Opportunity EmployerUnited Activities Unlimited, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
