Firefighter/Paramedic

The Firefighter/Paramedic plays a vital role in the Village of Los Lunas Fire Department, delivering emergency and non-emergency services to the community. This position requires advanced emergency medical skills, including paramedic-level care, as well as firefighting expertise to respond effectively to a wide range of incidents. Firefighter/Paramedics also engage in data entry and public relations activities, serving as a valuable resource for citizens and visitors. Key responsibilities include responding promptly to emergency calls, administering advanced life support care, operating advanced medical equipment, providing compassionate care while transporting patients, engaging in fire suppression efforts, conducting search and rescue operations, conducting fire prevention and safety education programs, performing data entry tasks, engaging in public relations activities, maintaining and inspecting firefighting equipment, adhering to departmental policies, participating in training sessions, collaborating with team members, keeping the workspace clean, following a departmental schedule, fostering a positive work environment, and demonstrating professionalism.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED certificate, post-secondary education equivalent to less than a bachelor's degree, EMT-Paramedic certification/licensure, valid BLS CPR card, current Class E Driver's License, Haz-Mat Awareness/Operations certification, Fire Apparatus Driver Operator EVD certification, Technical Rescuer: Vehicle & Machinery I certification, Firefighter I/II Combo certification, S130/190 Wildland Fire Behavior certification, and the ability to pass a background check and meet departmental requirements for employment.
