Junior Attorney

Responsibilities: • Draft documents such as correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, settlement agreements, and contracts to be used proceedings and contract negotiations • Communicate with senior associates, paralegals, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently • Keep files organized to make sure the most recent updates are accessible to other attorneys, paralegals, and staff • Assist clients in determining a proper solution to legal conflicts and determine the best course of action • Perform legal research, prepare for and attend hearings or other legal proceedings, and give general counsel under the supervision of senior associate attorneys • Represent spouses, parents, and other individuals as their lawyer of record in family court actions • Represent the best interests of children in contested custody matters as a Guardian ad Litem • Conduct initial consultations with clients, evaluate the merits of their case, and provide sound advice on their best path forward • Draft pleadings, letters, and other court documents • Advocate for clients in hearings and mediations • Answer client questions and provide advice promptly • Maintain thorough records through the firm’s case management system to ensure everyone in the firm has access to the most up-to-date information regarding the case Qualifications: • Successful completion of the bar exam • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree required from an accredited law school • Ability to work with senior attorneys to best serve client needs and grow our client base • Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association) • Solid communication skills and problem-solving skills required in order to work with clients, staff members and senior attorneys • South Carolina Bar License or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire Completion of South Carolina Rule 403 trial observation requirements or ability to complete requirements within 6 months of hire • Excellent knowledge of basic office programs, computer software, and online applications, and willingness to learn project and case management software Compensation: $65,000 - $85,000 yearly

Compensation:
$65,000-$85,000 per year
