Leesylvania State Park is accepting applications for aMaintenance/HousekeepingRanger position. Job Summary: We are seeking a responsible, goal-oriented individual who can work as part of a team, take direction from others, and is capable of working unsupervised. This position focuses on the daily upkeep of park facilities and positive interaction with a diverse public. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Primary focus includes proper and prompt cleaning of restrooms and facilities, and trash removal Performs the light maintenance and cleaning tasks necessary to operate state park facilities Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old Must have a valid driver’s license Ability to stand, bend, and work outdoors exposed to the elements. Must be able to work well with other staff and park guests. Must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Additional Considerations: Knowledge of cleaning methods and the use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety practices related to the work site. Demonstrate the ability to work on your own. Knowledge of the operation of manual and power cleaning equipment. Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed. Must be able to follow oral instructions. Able to perform a variety of cleaning tasks and to tolerate contact with a variety of cleaning products and solutions. Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods of time to perform manual labor safely. Ability to handle issues arising in the use of the facility by visitors. Special Instructions: Background Check: Employment in all Virginia State Parks positions iscontingent upon satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check. Employment Eligibility: Selected candidates must complete the I-9Employment Eligibility Verification Form. DCR participates in E-Verify. Driver’s License Requirement: A valid State Driver's License is requiredif operating a state or personal vehicle for agency business. Work Requirements: Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for benefitsand are limited to 1,500 hours from May 1 to April 30. Fifty percent discount on cabins (up to 3 bedrooms) outside of Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, for a maximum of 14 nights. All reservations require a two-night minimum.
