This site will support approximately 1,700 employees and specialize in Busway and Busplug manufacturing, including metal and bar fabrication, powder painting, plating, epoxy, and assembly operations. As a Special Processes Specialist , you will serve as the technical expert for plating and wastewater treatment operations within the facility. This role is responsible for ensuring process stability, environmental compliance, product quality, and operational excellence across key manufacturing processes. You will partner closely with manufacturing, quality, engineering, maintenance, and EHS teams to optimize process performance, support production goals, implement continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.

You will make an impact by:

• Serving as the technical owner for plating and wastewater treatment operations across the facility.
• Monitoring and optimizing process performance to ensure consistent product quality, throughput, and operational efficiency.
• Developing and maintaining process specifications, operating procedures, process controls, and standard work instructions.
• Supporting daily operation of plating systems, including chemical concentration control, bath maintenance, process monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Monitoring wastewater treatment operations to ensure compliance with Siemens standards and applicable environmental regulations.
• Analyzing process data, laboratory results, and operational trends to identify improvement opportunities and reduce process variation.
• Leading root cause investigations and corrective actions related to product quality, environmental compliance, process performance, and equipment reliability.
• Partnering with quality teams to address internal and customer quality concerns involving special processes.
• Collaborating with EHS teams to ensure proper handling, storage, treatment, and disposal of chemicals, wastewater, and regulated materials.
• Supporting environmental permitting activities, inspections, regulatory reporting, and compliance audits.
• Working closely with maintenance, operations, and equipment suppliers to improve system reliability, uptime, and process capability.
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, yield, chemical utilization, waste reduction, and operating costs.
• Supporting installation, commissioning, validation, and optimization of new process equipment and technologies.
• Developing technical training materials and providing training to operators, technicians, and production personnel.
• Supporting new product introductions and ensuring special process requirements are successfully integrated into manufacturing operations.
• Maintaining process documentation, control plans, and technical records in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.
• Promoting a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, quality, and operational excellence across the organization.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience supporting industrial plating, metal finishing, surface treatment, chemical processing, wastewater treatment, or related manufacturing operations.
• Experience troubleshooting and optimizing chemical process systems within a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of industrial wastewater treatment processes, chemical treatment systems, and environmental compliance requirements.
• Experience developing process documentation, operating procedures, technical specifications, and work instructions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience utilizing structured root cause analysis methodologies.
• Experience working cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, engineering, and EHS organizations.
• Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials Science.
• Experience supporting copper, tin, nickel, zinc, silver, or other industrial plating and metal finishing operations.
• Experience operating, optimizing, or maintaining wastewater treatment systems including neutralization, precipitation, filtration, sludge handling, and water recycling technologies.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, RCRA, Clean Water Act, and other environmental regulations applicable to manufacturing operations.
• Experience supporting manufacturing start-ups, greenfield facilities, or large-scale production ramp-ups.
• Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC), process capability analysis, FMEA, and quality management systems.
• Experience with laboratory testing methods, chemical analysis, process monitoring systems, and environmental reporting.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience working in highly regulated industrial manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with plating pretreatment systems, chemical pretreatment, coating preparation, or other special manufacturing processes.

• Professional Engineer (PE)
• Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
• Certified Environmental Professional (CEP)
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
• Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification
• ISO 14001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor Certification
