Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Responsible for assessing physiological, emotional, and spiritual needs of each patient within the assigned unit area and planning nursing care to meet those needs. Ensures nursing care plans are carried out through performance and leadership of subordinate personnel. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Adheres to the standards of nursing practice at McLaren Flint, using a systematic nursing process. Assesses and documents patient status on admission and continuously thereafter, including in procedural areas. Develops written plan of care, including long‑ and short‑range goals and nursing actions. Required Qualifications (General) Licensed as a Registered Nurse to practice nursing in Michigan. ACLS certification within 6 months of hire or transfer for specified units. Additional Qualifications of Specialty Units Cardiovascular Services / CVCU Minimum of two years of experience in a cardiac critical care unit, step‑down unit such as 12T, 9T, 4C, PACU, etc., or in a cardiac cath lab or emergency department. ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer. Preferred: Previous experience pulling arterial lines or venous sheaths. Preferred: Knowledge of intra‑aortic balloon pumps. Cath Lab Minimum of two years of experience in a cardiac critical care unit (2C, CCU, ICU), step‑down units (4C, 9T, 12T), emergency department, PACU, cardiac cath lab, EP lab, or neuro interventional procedures lab. ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer. Preferred: Previous experience as a Registered Nurse in a Cath Lab. Medical Imaging / Radiology Minimum of two years of experience in a critical care unit (2C/ICU/CCU/SCU), step‑down unit, cardiac cath lab, ER, or neuro interventional procedures lab. Competent in starting and maintaining IVs. 12 months of recent experience (within the last three years) administering and monitoring moderate sedation of patients. Competent to interpret a 12‑lead EKG. ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer. Preferred: Previous experience working in MRI and radiology setting. Nursing Resource Licensed as a Registered Nurse to practice nursing in Michigan. Minimum of 2 years of experience in an inpatient nursing unit or ER within the last 5 years as an RN (excluding 11S, Joint and Spine, Rehab, Behavioral Health, Cath Lab, OR). Minimum of 6 months proven telemetry monitoring/interpretation experience within the last year and/or successful completion of McLaren Flint’s Telemetry Monitoring/Interpretation test within the last year. ANCC Psych Certification within 2 years of hire or transfer. LDRP NRP certification within 6 months of hire or transfer. Complete the Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course and pass the test in accordance with AWHONN standards within 12 months of transfer or hire.
