The Legal Aid Society's Civil Practice has an opening for a Senior Coordinator of Grants and Contracts (Housing). The Senior Coordinator of Grants and Contracts (Housing) is responsible for the centralized grants and contracts management for all housing-related funding.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare, and/or oversee preparation of, select quantitative and narrative reports for timely submission to funders, including providing senior level feedback and quality control of reports assembled by team members
- Assist in managing Housing grants and contracts with Civil Practice program leaders and Housing Coordinators
- Collaborates closely with Grants and Contracts (Housing) team in establishing policies and procedures for managing all aspects of grants and contracts, including startup, renewals, amendments, modifications, closeouts, audits, reporting, budget management, etc
- Ensure uniformity of grants and contracts and compliance within the Civil Practice by conveying grantor policies and procedures to Civil Practice program leaders and fiscal staff
- Maintain knowledge of contracts and associated requirements within Grants and Contracts (Housing) team portfolio
- Act in coordination with Civil Grants and Contracts management and Civil Practice leadership as liaison between the Practice and the grantors for program and compliance related issues
- In conjunction with Grants & Contracts (Housing) team, ensure continued ability to represent LAS in correspondence and meetings with key external contacts and contract staff
- Collaborate with the Housing Practice, Deputy Directors of Grants and Contracts, and Grant Writer on applying for new funding opportunities for Housing
- Facilitate the development of quality assurance systems to monitor and track grant requirements and deliverables including collaborating with Grants and Contracts Deputy Directors on creation of technology solutions to program management and evaluation
- Support program audit requests by funders in coordination with fiscal and legal staff, and ensure feedback to grantors regarding contract site visits
- Prepare and analyze year-to-date grant performance vs. actual performance charts for Civil Practice leadership

QUALIFICATIONS
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of work experience or an equivalent combination of 7+ years of post-secondary education and relevant work experience
- Demonstrated work experience in grants and contracts reporting and contract compliance for a not-for- profit organization
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage relationships and effectively communicate with program staff, grantors, and funders
- Highly self-motivated and able to work independently
- Demonstrated ability to accurately and quickly gather data, compile information, keep accurate records, prepare statistical reports, and prepare narrative reports
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills as well as attention to detail
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel, and demonstrated ability to work with databases
- Excellent judgment, including ability to handle sensitive or confidential information
Preferred qualifications:
- Familiarity with grant management systems, such as PASSPort, and NYC contracting
- MBA, MPA, or other Graduate degree is strongly preferred
- Experience working in grants and contracts for a not-for-profit organization is strongly preferred

- Knowledge of housing practice areas and/or interest in housing law preferred
- Demonstration or performance of specific skills in complex, high volume data reporting
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently, working under the pressure of deadlines, demonstrating exceptional project management skills

Physical, environment, travel, and other duties required:
- Mostly sedentary, significant time using a computer and monitor; communicating and meeting using video
- Requires occasional or frequent physical movement to perform essential job functions which may include, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, standing or walking for long periods of time, accessing small spaces
- May or will require travel within NYC, across the five-borough region
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The salary range represents a good faith estimate of the range we expect to pay for this role. The actual salary offered may vary depending on many factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as collectively bargained salary steps for unionized roles.
Salary Range: $91,745 - $96,745

Higher Education and Loan Forgiveness
The Legal Aid Society is a qualified employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness. This position allows an employee to take advantage of PSLF and other State and Federal loan forgiveness programs. Additionally, employees who are New York residents may be eligible for assistance from New York state to assist with loan repayments, depending on years of practice.
