Class K Food Service Worker

Vacancy for a Class K Food Service Worker for the School Year 2026-2027

Hours: 5.75 hrs/Day (8:00 am -1:45 pm)

Salary Range: $19.10/hour

Location: Candlebrook Elementary School

Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing hot and cold food items (e.g., chopping vegetables, baking, assembling sandwiches, preparing salads) following standardized recipes and production records.
• Set up serving lines with appropriate utensils, plates, and food items. Serve meals to students and staff, following precise portion-control guidelines to meet National School Lunch and Breakfast Program requirements.
• Operate the cafeteria cash register or meal scanning system, accurately processing student accounts, cash payments, and identifying a "reimbursable meal"
• Adhere strictly to HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) principles, including monitoring and logging food temperatures, proper food storage (labeling/dating), and avoiding cross-contamination.
• Assist in receiving, checking, and stocking food deliveries and supply shipments in refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage areas using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method.
• Maintain sharp awareness of student food allergies and medical dietary restrictions, ensuring designated alternatives are handled carefully.

Qualifications:

• High School degree or equivalent.
• Previous institutional food service experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to interact and cooperate effectively with others.
• Satisfactory record of attendance required.
