Case Worker - Futures Department- Youth, Young Adults and Family Services - Community Based (Mon - Fri, 8:00am-4:30pm) Job Location: 101 Truman Medical Center, UH Behavioral Health, Kansas City, Missouri Department: Community Mental Health Center Position Type: Full time Work Schedule: 8:00AM - 4:30PM Hours Per Week: 40 Job Description Who You Are You’re a passionate, empathetic problem-solver with a deep understanding of mental health and substance abuse challenges. Your Mission As a Community Support Specialist, you’ll be on the front lines of client care, offering behavioral and socially rehabilitative services that help people lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. You’ll work closely with clients to understand their unique needs and provide the support they need in key areas such as emotional wellbeing, finances, social life, and career goals. You’ll also collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure every client gets the comprehensive care they deserve. Your Day-to-Day Provide life‑changing support that helps clients regain control of their emotional, social, and financial wellbeing, building self‑confidence and emotional resilience. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure holistic client care in a supportive, multicultural environment. Help clients navigate the complexities of life by connecting them with local resources, support networks, and services. Utilize creativity to design personalized treatment plans, combining skill‑building with compassion. Offer crisis‑management support during tough moments, guiding clients with empathy and expertise. Work tirelessly to help clients achieve wellness across all aspects of their lives—spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, and socially. Advocate for clients facing legal, financial, or societal challenges, helping them overcome obstacles and thrive. What You’ll Bring To The Table A degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a similar field—or a solid combination of education and real‑world experience. Strong communication skills, active listening, and the ability to build trust and motivate others. Leadership qualities that support and uplift teammates. Cultural awareness and commitment to inclusive spaces. Adaptability and creative problem‑solving in a fast‑moving environment. Ability to drive if the role involves driving, meeting all safety and compliance standards. Commitment to earning a Benefits Planning certification within a year, especially in Employment Services. Community‑ready mindset, meeting people where they are—homes, centers, or drop‑in spaces—with flexibility. Organizational skills to keep paperwork and compliance in check.
