Job Description and Duties

Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 1, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

Under the general direction of the Chief of Mental Health, the Supervisor I performs the more complex and sensitive work in the development, implementation, ongoing operations and management of the Special Programs and Contract Unit. Direct supervision of assigned staff, coordinates management of assignments, develops and monitors work plans. Identifies and develops a variety of institutional and community-based programs specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy, gender-responsive and trauma informed services such as substance use disorder treatment, education, employment, and community reintegration programming in support of reducing recidivism. In addition, the Supervisor I provides contractual oversight for multiple contract providers delivering services to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation incarcerated and parolee population.

Minimum Qualifications:

Four years of work experience performing analytical, technical, clerical, or customer service duties. Academic education from an accredited college/university may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis; and

An additional two years of professional analytical and/or technical experience, one year of which must be equivalent to an Analyst II or higher.

Candidates who are within six months of satisfying the minimum qualifications will be admitted to the examination, but they must fully meet the requirement(s) before being eligible for appointment.

Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting. Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
