Health Assistant

The job of Health Assistant is done for the purpose of providing clerical/clinical support in addressing the health needs of students; and providing appropriate care and/or referral for ill, and/or injured students as may be required. Essential functions include administering mandated screenings, advising in the enrollment of students, assisting nurses, cleaning and organizing work areas, consulting with RN regarding various issues, distributing educational materials, following universal precautions, maintaining inventory of supplies, maintaining health records, participating in the recording, reporting and gathering of data for the Direct Service Claiming program, performing record keeping and clerical functions, preparing written materials, reporting unsafe environment conditions, responding to inquiries, scheduling screenings, supervising students, administering medications and treatments under the supervision of the nurse and the Director of Health Services, and assisting other personnel. Job requirements include mental requirements such as learning development and problem solving, physical requirements including physical skill and physical effort, social requirements including human relations skill and scope of contacts, and work environment including performance environment and physical working conditions. Experience, education, and certifications include job related experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. Compensation details include FLSA status, pay schedule, and work calendar.
