The main medical center is a level 1A tertiary care facility providing patient-centered healthcare via an array of comprehensive medical, surgical, geriatric specialty services, as well as state-of–the-art diagnostic testing throughout 14 sites of care. With 466 inpatient beds, including a 120-bed Community Living Center, a 40-bed domiciliary, and a 21-bed Residential Treatment Program, the Atlanta VAMC is uniquely positioned to serve the healthcare needs of more than 130,000 enrolled Veterans living in 50 counties across northeast Georgia. The Medical Center, also a teaching hospital, provides hands-on and state-of-the-art technology, education, and research to residents in collaboration with Emory University School of Medicine and Morehouse School of Medicine.CNA - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)The CNA serves as a member of the nursing staff and carries out routine nursing care and other personal services to assigned patients on any ward or tour assigned.Performs a range of personal nursing care which includes activities of daily living, such as feeding, bathing, lifting, and turning patients, providing oral, nail, hair related hygiene care, routine foley, oropharyngeal, nasopharyngeal, and performing preventive, rehabilitative, application of races, prosthetic devices, utilizes equipment to promote veteran self-care i.e., lift equipment, Hydro sounds tubs.Documents all care provided in the appropriate clinical records.Observes significant conditions, both physical and emotional, that are relevant to the health status of the patient.The CNA performs a range of diagnostic support duties such as taking vital signs, collecting, and transporting specimens, and preparing and escorting patients for discharge, tests, examinations, treatments and/or surgery per established procedures.Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment; observes all policies pertaining to universal precautions. Provides for safety needs of patients by maintaining and a clean and safe environment.Accompanies patients on diagnostic or therapeutic trips assuming responsibility for basic decisions within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant while away from nursing units.The CNA initiates emergency measures to control disruptive or violent behavior.
