Assistant Operations ManagerSalary Range $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 Salary/year Position Type Full TimeDescriptionPosition SummaryThe Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating the safe, compliant, and efficient transportation and distribution of fuel and propane products. This role ensures timely delivery to customers, effective fleet utilization, regulatory compliance (DOT, OSHA, and hazardous materials), and accurate inventory management across bulk plants and delivery routes.Key ResponsibilitiesSchedule and dispatch fuel and propane deliveries to residential, commercial, and industrial customersCoordinate daily routing of transport trucks and bobtails to maximize efficiency and meet delivery windowsMonitor inventory levels at bulk plants, storage tanks, and customer sites to prevent runoutsEnsure compliance with DOT regulations, hazmat handling requirements, and company safety policiesPrepare and maintain documentation including bills of lading, delivery tickets, and regulatory reportsCommunicate with drivers, plant operators, and sales teams regarding delivery status and prioritiesTrack shipments and respond to delays, weather disruptions, or equipment issuesOptimize routes and loads to improve fuel efficiency and reduce operating costsSupport seasonal demand planning (e.g., winter heating demand spikes)Maintain accurate records of deliveries, inventory, and transportation activitiesCoordinate maintenance schedules and availability of transport vehicles with fleet teamsQualificationsRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred2+ years of logistics, dispatch, or transportation experience (fuel, propane, or hazardous materials preferred)Working knowledge of DOT regulations, hazardous materials transportation, and safety practicesExperience with dispatch software, routing systems, or ERP platformsStrong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environmentExcellent communication skills for coordinating with drivers and customersPreferred QualificationsExperience in fuel, propane, or petroleum distribution operationsFamiliarity with tank monitoring systems and degree-day forecastingHazmat certification knowledge or experience supporting compliance programsExperience with fleet management or transportation scheduling toolsKey SkillsSafety and regulatory awarenessRoute planning and optimizationInventory tracking and demand forecastingProblem-solving under time and weather constraintsAttention to detail and accuracyTeam coordination and communication
