As a Managing Technical Consultant, Air Quality, you’ll not only manage complex compliance and permitting projects—you’ll influence strategy, mentor talent, and expand ERM’s footprint in a rapidly evolving market. From guiding multinational companies through regulatory challenges to spearheading climate change initiatives, you’ll be the trusted advisor who ensures operational flexibility while meeting stringent compliance standards. Every decision you make will help clients thrive and advance ERM’s global mission. What You’ll Bring Required: BS/MS in engineering (chemical, mechanical, environmental), environmental science, or related field—or equivalent experience. 4+ years of air quality/compliance consulting experience (7+ years preferred). Proven expertise in Title V, PSD, NSR, BACT, and MACT compliance. Strong business development skills with a track record of securing large contracts. Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and relationship‑building abilities. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship. Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license. Established relationships with regulatory authorities and major industrial clients in the Midwest/Southeast. Recognized technical reputation in the marketplace. Key Responsibilities Lead and Grow: Drive strategic expansion of ERM’s air quality services and client base in the Midwest, focusing on pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and technology sectors. Develop Business: Identify new opportunities, craft winning proposals, and build lasting client partnerships. Deliver Expertise: Oversee complex air permitting and compliance programs, including NSR, PSD, Title V, NESHAP MACT, EPCRA, and dispersion modeling. Mentor and Collaborate: Guide junior staff, ensure quality deliverables, and work with ERM’s global air quality team to share best practices and deliver exceptional results.
