Controller: Nonprofit

Base Pay Range $100,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr A mission‑driven nonprofit organization is seeking a Controller to join its leadership team. This role combines hands‑on accounting with strategic financial oversight for a growing organization of approximately $5M in annual revenue. This is a hybrid role, requiring only one day on‑site per month in the Bronx. Key Responsibilities Oversee full‑cycle accounting, including general ledger, journal entries, and month‑end close Manage government contract invoicing, reporting, and compliance Supervise accounting and grants staff, ensuring accurate allocations and timely reporting Prepare financial statements, budget‑to‑actual reports, and audit schedules Support annual budgeting, audit preparation, and grant reporting Maintain compliance with GAAP and federal/state funding requirements Develop and improve accounting systems and internal controls Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required 3+ years of nonprofit accounting experience with government contracts Strong technical proficiency in Fund EZ or comparable accounting software Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and experience with PASSPort a plus Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead a small team Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills Seniority Level Mid‑Senior level Employment Type Full‑time Job Function Accounting/Auditing and Finance Industry Non‑profit Organizations Location: Bronx, NY #J-18808-Ljbffr
