and financial reporting functionsEnsure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processesOversee preparation and review of consolidated financial statements and related financial reporting packages in accordance with U.S. GAAPEnsures that accounting policies, processes, and internal controls comply with U.S. GAAP, applicable federal contracting requirements, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), FAR/DFARS, and other regulatory requirements applicable to the Company's defense contracting operationsEstablish and maintain appropriate accounting policies, procedures, and practicesReview significant accounting transactions and ensure appropriate accounting treatment and documentationMonitor balance sheet accounts, account reconciliations, accruals, reserves, and other areas requiring management judgmentEnsure appropriate accounting for revenue, contracts, inventory, fixed assets, leases, debt, taxes, pensions, and other significant financial statement accountsIdentify and resolve complex accounting issues and coordinate with external accounting advisors when necessaryServes as a key financial partner to executive leadership, Finance, Operations, Contracts, Supply Chain, Program Management, and other functions, providing financial insight and ensuring that financial information supports sound business decisionsServes as a primary liaison with external auditors, government auditors and oversight agencies, and other external stakeholdersGovernment Contracting & ComplianceEnsure accounting practices comply with applicable FAR, DFARS, CAS, and other U.S. Government contracting requirementsOversee the Company's cost accounting structure, including direct and indirect cost classification, allocation methodologies, and indirect cost poolsEnsure proper accumulation and allocation of direct and indirect costs to government contractsEnsure compliance with applicable cost principles and requirements governing allowability, allocability, and reasonableness of costsCost Accounting & Program FinanceOversee cost accounting activities supporting the Company's manufacturing and government contract operationsEnsure accurate accounting for labor, material, overhead, manufacturing costs, work-in-process, and finished goodsMonitor inventory valuation and ensure compliance with applicable accounting requirementsEstablish and maintain appropriate controls over standard costs, actual costs, variances, and inventory adjustmentsPartner with Program Management and Operations to understand cost performance and investigate significant variancesSupport accounting for long-term and performance-based contracts, including appropriate revenue recognition and estimates of contract profitabilityReview contract estimates, cost-to-complete information, loss provisions, and other significant contract accounting estimatesEnsure appropriate accounting for engineering, manufacturing, and other production-related costsOtherMaintain and strengthen the Company's system of internal accounting controlsEnsure appropriate controls over journal entries, account reconciliations, revenue, inventory, fixed assets, and other significant processesServe as the primary accounting contact for the Company's external auditorsCoordinate the annual financial statement audit, including preparation of schedules, supporting documentation, and responses to audit requestsLead continuous improvement of the Company's accounting and financial reporting processesEstablish and monitor close calendars, deadlines, and accountability for the accounting organizationEvaluate and improve the effectiveness of ERP and financial systems, including appropriate financial controls and reporting capabilitiesKnowledge and SkillsBachelor's and/or master's degree in business administration with an emphasis in accountingC.P.A. preferredDefense industry experience required15+ years' experience in the accounting and finance sector10+ years' experience managing accountants and the accounting and finance process preferredStrong experience in both the private and public accounting sectors is preferred but not requiredCredibility, ethical, full disclosure, and clean financial historyConfidential, understands the ethical standards of a CPAConscientious about timeliness of assignments and
