Open Rank Neonatologist

The Department of Pediatrics at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine is seeking an open rank faculty member to serve the clinical and educational missions of the Division of Neonatology. The division is based at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) in Tampa, FL. TGH is a 1,018-bed teaching hospital affiliated with the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. It is a private not-for-profit hospital and one of the most comprehensive medical facilities in west central Florida, serving a dozen counties with a population of over 4 million. In addition to being a Level 1 trauma center, it also has a Level 3 NICU. The 82-bed Jennifer Leigh Muma NICU is a designated Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Center designated by the State of Florida to deliver the highest level of medical care to premature and sick infants, and to women with high-risk pregnancies. USF/TGH Neonatology also participates in the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative, a statewide initiative to improve maternal and infant health outcomes in Florida. We are seeking a dedicated physicianpreferably with expertise in Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD)to join our team. This position may also include serving as BPD Physician Lead to Tampa General Hospital, with opportunities to lead program development, quality initiatives, and strategic growth.

Responsibilities

• Clinical - The position includes the management of patients in the Jennifer Leigh Muma Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Tampa General Hospital.
• Teaching - The faculty member will contribute to departmental teaching programs for neonatal fellows, pediatric residents, and medical students. He/she will participate in the preparation and organization of new educational programs as well as university and departmental committee.
• Research - The faculty member will be encouraged to participate in ongoing research in the Division of Neonatology and contribute to divisional efforts to seek funding for extramural research.
• Administrative - Act as the Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD) physician lead at Tampa General Hospital.
• Other - Other duties as assigned. Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department.

Qualifications

Minimum:

• Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
• BC/BE in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
• Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
• For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.

Additional Requirements:

• Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties.
• The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.
• MUST BE BOARD CERTIFIED/ELIGIBLE IN: Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

Preferred:

• 5 years of professional neonatal/perinatal medicine experience. Experience with the national BPD collaborative.
