The CORE Institute - North Phoenix
Job Description Job Description Our organization is looking for Fellows for the 2026-2027 academic year for the Fellowship Programs outlined below. Established with a vision for orthopedic excellence, our institute encompasses a comprehensive range of orthopedic and musculoskeletal sciences. In alignment with our mission, we provide top-tier musculoskeletal healthcare, grounded in innovative research, education, community service, and a commitment to outstanding patient care and outcomes. Application requirements include: a CV, a Personal Statement, and three letters of recommendation. Applicants must have completed or be currently enrolled in an Orthopedic Surgery Residency in the United States or Canada. FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMS: Hip and Knee Reconstruction Fellowship Program Director: Steven Myerthall, MD Faculty: Amalia de Comas, MD, Mark Campbell, MD, Justin Butler, DO This 12-month fellowship offers a unique and rigorous curriculum. Each fellow receives extensive training under the mentorship of seasoned Adult Reconstruction surgeons, all of whom have completed their own fellowships. Participants engage in dedicated rotations and, based on past experiences, actively take part in over 500 routine and complex adult reconstruction surgeries. The program includes comprehensive training in robotics. Notably, the Adult Reconstructive Service manages one of the highest volumes of complex revision cases in the nation, granting fellows significant exposure to tumor reconstruction cases due to the diverse expertise of the faculty. This high-volume joint reconstruction service is recognized for its clinical and educational excellence. Interventional Spine/Pain Medicine Fellowship Program Director: Anuj Daftari, MD Faculty: Eric Feldman, MD, Kurt (Adam) Lundberg, DO This 12-month clinical fellowship emphasizes non-operative spine care and interventional pain management. The fellow collaborates with physicians who have completed fellowships and are actively engaged in a large, dynamic, multidisciplinary group in Phoenix, Arizona. Mastery of various interventional spine procedures is essential, including lumbar/thoracic/cervical epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency neurotomy, sympathetic blocks, peripheral joint and nerve injections, spinal cord stimulator trials, dorsal root ganglion stimulator trials, spinal cord stimulator implants, disc stimulation procedures, and kyphoplasty. The fellowship also provides thorough training in medication management, fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided injections, and electrodiagnostic techniques. Additionally, fellows have the chance for elective rotations in orthopedic spine surgery and neuroradiology, along with numerous research opportunities. Successful completion of the fellowship qualifies fellows to pursue board certification through the American Board of Pain Medicine. Spine Fellowship Program Directors: Ali Araghi, DO, and Norman Chutkan, MD Faculty: Byron Willis, MD The Spine Fellowship is a one-year post-residency program focused on the management of spinal disorders. The Spine Division consists of skilled leaders in all aspects of spine surgical treatment, supported by a team of pain management and rehabilitation specialists who provide non-operative care. Management of spinal disorders includes both non-surgical and surgical evaluations, as well as preoperative assessments and appropriate patient selection. Surgical training encompasses advanced minimally invasive and open procedures in the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, utilizing anterior, lateral, and posterior approaches. The experience covers degenerative conditions, tumors, fractures, and adult deformities. Fellows will actively prepare for and participate in monthly spine conferences and journal clubs. They will also have access to a biomechanical research laboratory, motion analysis laboratory, and a clinical research infrastructure supported by a fully staffed team of regulatory, contract, grant, and research coordinators.
