Summary The City of Urbandale is currently accepting applications for an IT Administrator. Reporting to the Director of Technology, this position plays a key role in supporting and maintaining the City’s technology infrastructure and enterprise systems. The IT Administrator is responsible for managing physical, virtual, and cloud‑based server environments; providing both desk side and remote technical support; administering Microsoft 365 services; and supporting a diverse portfolio of enterprise and department‑specific applications. The role also supports public safety systems and telecommunications infrastructure, contributing to the City’s mission of responsive and innovative service delivery. Responsibilities Manage physical, virtual, and cloud‑based server environments Provide desk‑side and remote technical support Administer Microsoft 365 services Support public safety systems and telecommunications infrastructure Support a diverse portfolio of enterprise and department‑specific applications Collaborate with employees to understand operational needs, troubleshoot challenges, and recommend tools that improve efficiency Be available for after‑hours maintenance, emergency response, and on‑call support as needed Qualifications Position is an exempt civil service role. The IT Administrator works directly with employees across the organization and is expected to combine technical expertise with consultation and collaboration to contribute to daily operations and long‑term improvements.
