Collections Paralegal

Lerch, Early & Brewer, a full-service law firm located in Bethesda, Maryland, is seeking a Collections Paralegal to join our Community Associations Practice Group. Position Overview: This role involves supporting the Community Associations Practice Group by managing collections processes and collaborating with attorneys and staff to ensure timely resolution of debts. Qualifications and Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of collections experience, preferably in Community Associations law within a law firm setting Proven ability to manage a large, deadline-driven caseload with minimal supervision Experience handling high-volume collections matters from referral through resolution, including communication with homeowners and property managers Familiarity with Maryland collections procedures and applicable debt collection laws and regulations, including liens, judgments, and garnishments Experience tracking accounts, payments, and deadlines using a case management system Ability to accurately calculate balances, interest, late fees, and attorneys’ fees Demonstrated proficiency in preparing legal correspondence and pleadings Strong written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to grammar, tone, punctuation, and spelling Excellent negotiation skills Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with attorneys and staff Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required In addition, candidates must demonstrate a high level of professionalism, sound judgment, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to delivering outstanding client service Benefits: Health and dental insurance Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave 401(k) plan The starting salary for this position is $70,000 per year (based on experience), with potential for bonuses.
