We are seeking an experienced Commercial Loan Officer to join our established commercial banking team in the Des Moines Metro market. This position is ideal for a relationship-focused lender who enjoys developing new business opportunities, strengthening existing client relationships, and delivering customized financial solutions to local businesses. Working alongside an experienced team of commercial bankers and supported by a full suite of treasury management, wealth management, and banking resources, you will play a key role in continuing our tradition of exceptional client service and sustainable growth. What You'll Do As a Commercial Loan Officer, you will build upon First National Bank's market presence by developing new commercial relationships, deepening existing client connections, and managing a quality commercial loan portfolio. You will collaborate closely with fellow commercial lenders and product specialists to provide comprehensive banking solutions that support the financial success of our clients. Business Development & Relationship Management Develop new commercial banking relationships while expanding existing client relationships. Build upon the bank's established reputation and referral network to generate new business opportunities. Execute a strategic calling plan focused on prospective clients, centers of influence, and referral sources. Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships through treasury management, wealth management, private banking, and other bank services. Collaborate with internal partners to deliver comprehensive financial solutions tailored to client needs. Maintain an active pipeline of prospects and opportunities through the bank's customer relationship management system. Originate, structure, and close commercial real estate (CRE) and commercial & industrial (C&I) loans. Evaluate credit opportunities and analyze borrower financial information. Structure financing solutions that meet client needs while adhering to sound banking practices. Present credit recommendations and seek approval for exceptions when appropriate. Ensure loans are documented, closed, and maintained in compliance with regulations and bank policy. Proactively manage an existing portfolio of commercial relationships. Monitor credit quality and maintain up-to-date financial information on borrowers. Identify potential risks and take appropriate action to protect the bank's interests. Manage challenged credits and work toward successful recovery or rehabilitation strategies when necessary. Community Leadership Represent First National Bank in the community. Build relationships with local businesses, organizations, and centers of influence. Promote the bank's reputation through active engagement and professional presence. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of commercial lending experience, including: Commercial Real Estate (CRE) lending Commercial & Industrial (C&I) lending Proven ability to develop new business and grow commercial relationships. Strong credit analysis and underwriting skills. Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities. Demonstrated organization, time management, and prospect management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications SBA lending experience. Established network of business and professional contacts within the Des Moines Metro market. Experience collaborating with treasury management, wealth management, or other specialty banking teams.
