Psychiatry Opportunity at Baylor University Medical Center

The position is located in the heart of Dallas at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC). BUMC is consistently ranked one of the best hospitals in the US by US News and World Report. BUMC is a 1,000 bed Level 1 trauma facility with cutting edge cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, transplant surgery (including bone marrow, kidney, liver, heart, lung, and more), and excellent medical subspecialty support. BUMC also is affiliated with Texas A&M's School of Medicine and as such teaching opportunities are readily available. BUMC is also home to the T. Boone Pickens Cancer Center, the #1 inpatient cancer center in North Texas.

The Physician HTPN examines and treats patients with a wide range of conditions, take patient histories, request diagnostic tests, make diagnoses, prescribe treatment, administer vaccinations, perform follow-up examinations, as well as educate patients in disease prevention and health maintenance. The Physician HTPN will supervise the clinical activities of allied health professionals and advanced practice professionals.

Essential functions of the role include: examining, collecting, recording, and maintaining patient information; prescribing or administering treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other medical care; ordering, performing, and interpreting tests and analyzing records, reports, and examination information to diagnose patients condition; working as part of a clinical team in decision making around tests, diagnoses and treatment options for patients with illnesses or diseases; and monitoring patient conditions and progress and reevaluating treatments as necessary.

Specialty includes diagnosing and treating conditions in area of specialty, working in hospital, specialty clinic or outpatient surgical center, performing surgical procedures, treatment or non-invasive procedures in area of specialty, creating post-operative care plans, recommending lifestyle changes involving diet, exercise and other matters, and supervising the clinical activities of a care team that may consist of other providers, and allied health professionals.

Compensation based on experience.

Qualifications include: seeking a Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist in Downtown Dallas at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC); workload consists mainly of inpatient consultations with supervision of experienced psychiatry NPs and a flexible call rotation; must be BC/BE in Psychiatry with interest in psychosomatic medicine; Consultation-Liaison Fellowship is preferred but not required; guaranteed competitive salary; employed, full-time, position with Health Texas Provider Network (HTPN); faculty appointment with Texas A&M School of Medicine is available to interested candidates plus teaching opportunities with our 300+ residents and fellows in various specialties; candidates in training welcome to apply.
