Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)

Surgical TechnologistTo be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by performing a variety of technical activities related to patient care, as well as support activities in the operating room under the direction of a registered nurse.Primary AccountabilitiesPerforms a variety of duties in an operating room observing proper techniques to include preparing rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment; open sterile supplies and arrange sterile setups for operations.Creates, maintains, and terminates sterile field for surgical procedures.Properly handles and cares for all instruments and equipment. Checks materials and equipment for proper functioning and adequacy; reports faulty equipment and instruments per policy.Assists with precepting new technical personnel.Attends in-services and mandatory meetings.Cooperates with the nurse in the individualized plan of care for each patient.Anticipates needs of surgeon and surgical assistants in the operating room, passing instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies needed in an operative procedure.Demonstrates an ability to perform all duties required of a Surgical Technologist in accordance with established procedures and completion of skills check list.Work ExperienceMinimum QualificationsEducation: Completion of Health Firsts On-The-Job Training Program for Surgical Technician, OR graduate of a program for Surgical Technologist (Military, Community College, or School for Surgical Technology), OR one year of work experience as a surgical tech or surgical assistantLicensure: NoneCertification: Must hold American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.Work Experience: NoneKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:Ability to read, write, speak, and understand EnglishAbility to perform basic mathReliable transportation with ability to respond from location within 30 minutes of assigned facility when on callAbility to be flexible and adaptable with daily schedule and assigned tasksAbility to respond appropriately to stressful or life-threatening situations.Detail-oriented with ability for continuous concentration on an activity.Excellent customer service skills with ability to interact effectively with medical staff and patient care teams.Motivated to complete milestones and competencies with ability to receive constructive criticism and apply to future performance.Ability to work autonomously, while consulting chain of command as appropriate.Preferred QualificationsCertification: Certification as a Surgical TechnologistWork Experience: One year of experience as a surgical technologistPhysical Requirements MediumPhysically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequentlyMedium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistanceMay require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or overheadMay lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shiftMay be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to loud noiseMay require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC GuidelinesCommunicating with others to exchange informationVisual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasksWorkspace may vary from open to confined; on site or remoteMay require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicleSchedule: Full-TimeShift Times: 7:00am_5:00pmPaygrade: PG-PG-10S
