We are a technology firm creating in-house software, network and hardware solutions that support our noble cause of advancing warfighter capabilities with elegant, user-focused communications, networks, and software systems.Fuse is looking for a mid-level Mechanical Engineer to join our team onsite in San Diego, CA. We're looking for a mechanical engineer that can balance discipline and attention to detail with outside-the-box thinking and an innovative problem-solving attitude. Must be a pragmatic and mission-driven self-starter. Apply your analytical and detail-oriented mindset to develop, own, and improve Fuse's products for U.S. defense agencies that improve the sharing of information among warfighters distributed throughout airborne, maritime, and ground environments. Through a collaborative effort with the Electrical, Systems, and Production teams, this role will support Fuse Engineering to build communications, networking, and computing solutions for the warfighter. This is a mid-level role with great potential for growth.Warfighter-focused design and development is at the heart of Fuse processes. Throughout Fuse development our experienced team applies the best practices of commercial design-thinking, coupled to the DoD systems engineering framework. The coupling of commercially proven design with rigorous systems engineering gives Fuse an ability to rapidly design, develop and field solutions well inside of typical military design cycles. Fuse rapidly innovates, putting creative concepts into action and refining those concepts through hands-on testing, user evaluation, and iterations.What you'll do:Implement mechanical systems, equipment, and packages for customers and internal programs that meet requirements and expectationsSupport, design, and develop dynamic tactical communications systemsMechanical design and development for sustaining engineering of our flagship and existing products including dynamic tactical communications systemsPerform trade studies and participate in equipment selectionGenerate, review, and maintain mechanical drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), work instructions, and releasing of mechanical printsInteract with vendors to quote and produce mechanical parts and assembliesParticipate in engineering/design reviewsConduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designsSupport prototype and first article hardware buildsSupport integration between hardware, software, and network systemsConduct and support test planning, execution, and post-event reportingInterpret and research system interface documents in support of designing/defining/documenting how systems will interconnectTranslate customer requirements into subsystem and system specificationsProvide on-site and distance operational supportLimited Travel may be required
