Job Description We seek a dynamic Special Education Support Professional (ESP‑3) to join staff at Gibbons Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. Key responsibilities include providing individualized and group support across a range of settings, assisting with IEP implementation, data collection, instructional support, and maintaining a safe, inclusive environment. Responsibilities Provide support to students in large groups, small groups, and one‑to‑one settings. Assist teachers in addressing the educational and functional impacts of individual students’ special needs. Implement accommodations and modifications to setting, content, and instruction per student IEP. Administer or assist with alternative testing, including classroom, district, and state assessments. Correct day‑to‑day student work under teacher direction; not responsible for grading or parent communication. Participate in staff development programs and Student Services Team activities. Review and implement educational, social‑emotional, and behavioral supports outlined in IEPs and BIPs. Collect and record data as directed by the educational team. Attend two Monday after‑school meetings per month to collaborate with faculty and personnel. Perform other appropriate tasks designated by supervising teacher or principal. Cover classroom responsibilities in teacher absences, when necessary. For Tier 2 ESPs: lift, toileting, diapering, and support emerging communication and regulation skills for 3‑ and 4‑year‑olds. For Tier 3 ESPs: provide intensive, individualized support for K‑22 students with complex needs; implement teacher‑created instruction, behavioral plans, and emergency response protocols; support AAC and assistive technologies. Qualifications Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s in a related field (solid related experience may substitute). Preferred: 5+ years of relevant experience and bachelor’s degree. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required. CorI, Sori, and fingerprinting approval per 603 CMR 51.00. Knowledge of child growth, disability, ABA, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, anti‑bias instruction, social‑emotional learning, assistive technology, and technology integration. Preferred Experience Work in a diverse public school setting with English Language learners. Experience with students with special abilities across behavioral, cognitive, emotional, and learning challenges. Data collection and implementing IEPs under direction of special educator. Teaching life skills: communication, eating, cleaning, toileting. Desirable experience with literacy/mathematics instruction, Second Step, Responsive Classroom, PBS (FAIR system), Zones of Regulation, Social Thinking, MBSR.
