Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS (AHA) ACLS (AHA) NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to read and interpret EKG strips Comfort with comfort care patients Description: Unit requires two supervisor references for submission. Certifications must be current. Holidays should be rotated with core staff. Travelers must work two of the three major holidays, though requests will be considered. Basic dysphagia examination is required prior to acceptance. This is a pass/fail exam with two attempts allowed. Daily assignments may vary based on patient needs. Expected nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1 to 1:2. Nurses will often not take patients while serving as charge nurse. Self-scheduling is used, but final approval will be determined by management. Schedules are available for access from home. Floating may occur to other facilities under rare circumstances. Common patient diagnoses include medical/surgical ICU cases such as sepsis and respiratory failure. Multidisciplinary rounds are conducted regularly on days. The unit has access to respiratory therapy and pharmacy services 24/7. Nurse aides are not present on the unit. Shifts regularly start at 07:00 and end at 07:30. Comfort with bedside procedures is required. Weekend requirements include a minimum of four shifts within a four-week period. Additional shifts may be available on a voluntary basis. Cancellation policy allows for a limited number of shifts to be canceled during the assignment duration.
