Home Central is looking for a Paint Specialist to join our team at our Southern Tier locations. This is an in-store, customer-focused position for someone who enjoys helping customers find the right products and solutions for their painting and finishing projects.

Previous paint or retail experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate. Experience with paint tinting and color matching is a plus, but training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with selecting paints, stains, primers, finishes, and related supplies
• Provide knowledgeable product recommendations based on customer projects
• Mix and tint paint and assist with color matching
• Prepare paint estimates and help customers determine the products and quantities they need
• Work with contractor and pro-account customers
• Process customer sales and transactions
• Answer customer questions in person and over the phone
• Maintain accurate paint department inventory
• Stock shelves and keep products organized
• Help order paint and related products
• Keep the paint department clean, organized, and well-stocked
• Load customer purchases when needed
• Maintain a professional and helpful customer-service experience

Qualifications

• Previous paint, hardware, or retail experience preferred
• Knowledge of paints, stains, finishes, and related products is a plus
• Basic computer skills
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to learn product information and make appropriate recommendations
• Ability to occasionally climb ladders
• Ability to lift and handle paint, supplies, and other merchandise
• Reliable, organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team
