Job Title: Payroll and Benefits Specialist Industry: Healthcare Location (city, state): Harrison, NY Assignment Type: Direct Hire Pay: $65,000–$70,000 per year Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM; hybrid schedule with 2–3 days onsite per week. Job Description: The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for supporting biweekly payroll processing and day-to-day employee benefits administration. This role ensures accurate payroll calculations, employee records, benefits enrollment, and compliance with applicable payroll tax and employment requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and able to manage sensitive employee information while providing responsive support to employee inquiries. Key Responsibilities: Review timecards, spreadsheets, and payroll documentation to verify hours worked, overtime, call hours, paid time off (PTO), stipends, and other compensation before payroll processing. Process assigned biweekly payrolls using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring accurate and timely employee payments. Maintain employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and other employment status updates. Retrieve and reconcile scheduling and payroll hours from QGenda or similar scheduling systems. Support day-to-day benefits administration, including employee inquiries regarding eligibility, enrollment, coverage, and benefits changes. Assist with new hire benefits enrollment and employee status changes, ensuring payroll and benefits records remain accurate and up to date. Prepare and maintain reports related to new hires, terminations, headcount, compensation, employee census data, and payroll and benefits metrics. Coordinate payroll tax and unemployment insurance registrations for new states as the organization expands. Support compliance with applicable multi-state payroll tax, unemployment, leave, and benefits requirements. Investigate and resolve payroll and benefits discrepancies while maintaining accurate documentation and records. Serve as a resource for employee questions related to payroll and benefits, providing timely, accurate, and professional support. Assist with payroll reconciliations, reporting, recordkeeping, and ongoing process improvements. Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in payroll processing and benefits administration. Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now is required. Experience processing biweekly payroll and reviewing hours worked, overtime, PTO, deductions, and additional compensation. Knowledge of multi-state payroll tax requirements and unemployment insurance. Experience with benefits enrollment, eligibility, open enrollment, employee status changes, and employee benefits inquiries. Familiarity with payroll reconciliation, HRIS platforms, and employee records management. Experience with QGenda or similar scheduling software is a plus. Understanding of FMLA and applicable employment and benefits requirements. Strong attention to detail and commitment to payroll accuracy and confidentiality. Ability to work independently, manage recurring deadlines, and maintain focus in a detail-oriented environment. Patient, organized, and dependable approach to handling employee questions and resolving discrepancies. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
