Certified School Nurse

Reports to: Building Principal

Primary Purpose: To assist in addressing, maintaining and improving student health and the smooth and efficient operation and provision of school health services.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
• PA School Nurse Certification
• Valid CPR/AED Certification
• Valid First Aid Certification

Essential Functions:

• Adheres to federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and District policies. Recommends changes to policies and abides by professional conduct codes.
• Administers medication, provides care for ill or injured students, and oversees emergency medication programs.
• Maintains communication with staff about student health needs and assists families in finding health care resources.
• Keeps comprehensive health records, monitors immunization status, and makes referrals as needed.
• Develops accommodations for students with disabilities and implements health plans.
• Identifies high-risk children, assists in staff training on child abuse, and organizes health screenings and exams.
• Serves as a resource for health and wellness education and oversees health reports.
• Participates in committees and programs related to student health and wellness.
• Manages office supplies.
