Job Description

The General Production Worker operates a variety of CNC and fabrication equipment to support daily production needs in a welding and fabrication shop. This role focuses on running machines such as hardware equipment, bandsaws, burn tables, and other fabrication tools while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of CNC and fabrication equipment, including hardware machines, bandsaws, burn tables, and related tools based on the production schedule and daily job requirements.
• Set up machines and equipment according to job specifications, ensuring correct materials, tools, and settings are in place before starting production.
• Monitor machine operations throughout the shift to ensure parts meet quality standards and make adjustments as needed to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
• Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to understand dimensions, tolerances, and fabrication requirements for each job.
• Perform basic metal finishing tasks on parts and components, ensuring smooth edges, proper fit, and readiness for the next stage of production.
• Work collaboratively with welding, painting, and machine operating departments to keep production flowing smoothly and meet deadlines.
• Inspect finished parts visually and with measuring tools as required, identifying defects or deviations and reporting issues promptly.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with CNC machines, fabrication equipment, and in welding shop areas.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including regular removal of scrap, debris, and materials to support a safe and efficient environment.
• Assist with general production tasks as needed, including moving materials, staging work, and supporting other team members to complete jobs on time.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience with machine operating in a production or fabrication environment.
• Ability to operate CNC equipment, including setup, basic adjustments, and safe use.
• Experience with metal finishing processes, including grinding, deburring, or smoothing parts.
• Ability to operate and work around burn tables and bandsaws in a fabrication setting.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints to understand part specifications and requirements.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure parts meet quality and dimensional standards.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adapt to changing production needs.
• Commitment to following safety procedures in a welding and fabrication shop.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a welding, fabrication, or metalworking shop.
• Familiarity with working in multiple production areas such as painting, welding, and machine operating departments.
• Comfort working with various types of fabrication equipment beyond primary machines.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed to support production demands.
• Strong work ethic and desire to learn and grow within a production environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a welding and fabrication shop with an open layout and multiple dedicated work areas, including a paint area, welding department, and machine operating department. The environment is typical of a weld shop and can be slightly dirty due to metalworking and fabrication activities. The position follows a first-shift schedule, typically from 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with overtime available based on production needs. You will work around CNC machines, burn tables, bandsaws, and other fabrication equipment, and you should be comfortable in an industrial setting where safety procedures and appropriate work attire are essential.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Richmond, WI.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in New Richmond,WI.
