Warehouse Specialist

Position: Warehouse Specialist Department: Transportation/Warehouse Reports to: Distribution Center Supervisor Status: Non-Exempt Summary Perform a variety of material handling duties and responsibilities to ensure the consistent flow of materials throughout the donated goods and retail division. Duties and Responsibilities Assist in general warehouse operations by performing assigned duties in warehouse, post‑consumer sorting of commodities, outlet rotation and tipping. Accurately complete paperwork including but not limited to: truck manifest forms, powered industrial equipment inspections, SAP scanning. Maintain a clean and organized work area that is free of dust, debris, loose clothing and hazards during and at the end of each shift. Receive goods from the general public, greet and assist donors by providing information, unload donations, offer receipts, determine eligibility according to criteria, reject unusable items tactfully; provide tax information per guidelines; maintain excellent public relations at all times; sort donations into proper containers and remove trash; keep donation site clear and clean. Present an appropriate appearance and good customer service to the general public and coworkers. Promote an environment of workplace safety and ensure duties are performed safely in accordance with safety requirements. Communicate progress, concerns and issues to Distribution Center Supervisor in a timely manner. Qualifications Education and Experience No formal education necessary. Skills, Abilities, Qualifications Read, write and perform simple math. Present a neat appearance and communicate effectively with the general public. Operate equipment such as pallet jacks, trash compactors and balers while following all safety guidelines. Be flexible to work overtime and varied hours, including Saturdays and Sundays. Physical Requirements Ability to work in all weather extremes. Ability to work around dust, dirt, fumes and varied noise levels. Ability to walk and stand for a full day. Ability to stand continuously for more than 75% of the shift. Ability to climb, stoop, crouch, reach and bend. Ability to bend, kneel and stoop to open and close doors and secure loads for 10% of the shift. Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally. Ability to push and pull various carts requiring a force of 50 pounds over 150 feet for 25% of the shift. Ability to push and pull manual pallet jacks with gaylords or other material requiring an initial force of 60 pounds and 100 feet for 25% of the shift. Ability to push and pull the speed lift requiring an initial force of 60 pounds over 20 feet up to four times per shift. Ability to lift 50 pounds from ground level to waist level frequently for greater than 75% of the shift. Ability to lift 75 pounds from ground level to waist level once per shift. Ability to step up 24 inches onto forklifts and/or truck cab steps for 10% of the shift. Visual and hearing acuity (with correction) that meets standard vision and hearing test criteria.
