The pharmacy technician will assist in preparation and labeling of medications for dispensing to patients. Deliver Pharmacist verified medications to patient care units. The technician will ensure that adequate inventory is in stock and medications are properly stored and security procedures are followed. The technician will maintain and process charges for services rendered. Responsibilities Manage pharmacy operations, performing administrative duties, and buying pharmaceutical supplies. Assess the identity, strength and purity of medications. Order and purchase pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, and drugs, maintaining stock and storing and handling it properly. Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries of poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs. Prepare sterile solutions and infusions for use in surgical procedures and emergency rooms. Plan, implement, and maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal. Ensure that Standard Universal Precautions and the principles of aseptic and sterile technique are used appropriately. Ensure compliance of the Hospital with state licensure, Medicare certification and JCAHO accreditation standards.
