Respiratory Therapist-Registered - OUHC Respiratory Therapy - PRN

Job Overview This position provides respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to in‑patients and out‑patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. The RT‑CRT sets up equipment, performs monitoring, weans oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, draws and analyzes arterial blood gases and EKGs, delivers intermittent therapy, assists with airway changes, and provides services as ordered by physicians in accordance with established policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to established policy and procedure. Review and document all clinical information regarding each patient. Educate patients and co‑workers on procedures and treatment plans. Perform diagnostic procedures. Provide care that addresses physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the patient’s age. Adapt communication and interaction style to respect patient privacy and meet specific patient population needs. Complete other related duties as required. Education and Experience Associate’s Degree (required). Bachelor’s Degree (preferred). Work Experience: None required. Certifications Active License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice. Registered Respiratory Therapist certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care. Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 90 days. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval. Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and professionally. Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and various software packages specific to the role. Strong interpersonal skills. Physical and Environmental Demands The role requires frequent lifting and moving of objects, including occasional exertion of more than 100 pounds and frequent exertion of more than 50 pounds. The job involves stooping, bending, reaching, grabbing, prolonged sitting or standing, and traveling between facilities. Work is performed on a flexible schedule, including 24/7, weekend, holiday, and on‑call availability. Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, hazardous medications, and waste is present, with an occupational risk for communicable diseases.
