Travel Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)

Travel Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) – 13‑week assignment in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Company: Fusion Medical Staffing Facility Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico Responsibilities Set up therapy equipment and treatment areas, ensuring all devices and supplies are calibrated, clean, and ready for patient sessions. Guide patients through prescribed exercises and activities to improve mobility, strength, and balance, providing hands‑on assistance with movements and transfers as needed. Observe patient performance during therapy sessions, note changes in functional abilities, and report progress or concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist. Accurately record patient treatment details, progress, and any adjustments made during therapy sessions in the medical record. Instruct patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, proper use of assistive devices, and techniques for safe mobility and injury prevention. Work with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate a comprehensive approach to patient care. Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards while addressing patients’ comfort needs. Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities to remain current with best practices in physical therapy. Collaborate in discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions and continued patient progress in community or home‑based settings. Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice. Required Qualifications Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in compliance with state regulations. Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC). Preferred Qualifications Graduate of an accredited program in physical therapy. Prior Physical Therapy Assistant experience (New graduates welcome). Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position. Essential Skills and Requirements Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English. Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills. Physical abilities: remaining stationary, moving equipment (50‑100 lbs), and performing fine manipulation. Interpersonal: effective with a variety of personnel, maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism. Technical/Motor: grasp, fine manipulation, push/pull, and assisting with procedures or equipment. Mental: coping with frequent contact with the public, meeting deadlines under pressure, working occasionally under close supervision or independently, handling irregular activity schedules, and maintaining concentration to detail.
