Williams Jr Elementary SchoolSupervisor: Assistant Director of Facilities, Director of Facilities Services and Administrative AssistantJob Summary: To provide a clean, well-maintained environment and safe school building operation in any school building as assigned.Essential Functions:General cleaningDustingDust moppingWet moppingStripping and waxing of hard surface floorsWet extraction of carpets and furnishingsComplete restroom cleaning and careTest all plumbing and restroom fixtures once a month and report any issues and malfunctionsCleaning vent external coversChanging light bulbs, including overhead bulbs standing on a ladderWash windowsTrash removal (up to 50 lbs), clean up trash on groundsChanging HVAC filters in your building according to a set scheduleSweeping exterior entrance daily with a concrete push broomMopping or running automatic scrubber on gym floor after breakfast and lunchClean up after student and staff illnessClean up blood and bodily fluidsMaintain security in the buildingMonitor Fire and Electrical safety throughout the facilityTest Emergency and Exit lights monthly and report any malfunctionClean dirt and debris from doorway and threshold, monitor for debris and trash on grounds, and complete winter chemical applicationSet up special eventsMove furniture, boxes, and other miscellaneous items in the buildingAbility to complete minor maintenance and assembly of equipment and furnitureSnow removal from the entrance of the building and adjoining sidewalks, using both a snowblower and shovel (report 1 hour early on Snow Days)Complete exterior work such as emptying waste receptacles, picking up trash, snow removal (including using a snow blower on walks), sweeping entrances, and cleaning flower bedsSubmit timely work orders for building needs that are outside of the scope and duties of the custodial positionPerform light-duty maintenance, including:PaintingChanging ballastsChanging vent coversChanging or repairing ceiling tilesGluing cove baseChanging uni-vent filters twice annuallyThoroughly clean uni-vents each summerReplacing light lens coversInstalling soap dispensers and bulletin boardsHanging picturesMinor maintenance and assembly of equipment and furnitureMaintenance duties completed with small tools (pliers, screwdriver, wrench)Other light-duty maintenance as assignedOther duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities Services, Administrative Assistant to Facilities Services, and Building Principal(s)Other Skills and Abilities:Constant bending, standing, stooping, walking, and liftingContinuous, repetitive motions, such as mopping and sweepingUp to 10 lbs exertion to push a broomUp to 50 lbs exertion to set and tear down lunch tablesUp to 50 lbs lifting of boxes, cabinets, and furnitureQualifications:Education: High School Diploma or EquivalentExperience: Five years of experience in building maintenance and/or cleaning is preferredCleaning procedures for offices, classrooms, restrooms, and other areasBasic knowledge of the use of hand tools and minor maintenance repairsAdditional training in cleaning and maintenance operations is desirableRequirements:Residence phoneValid Driver's LicenseMust be available evenings, weekends, and holidays for emergenciesMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs and exert pushing force of the sameTerms of Employment:Salary and Benefit information can be found on the Human Resources webpage.
