Conflicts Attorney

The client, a national law firm representing clients in complex and high-profile matters, is seeking a Conflicts Attorney for an immediate opportunity. This role requires a highly experienced professional with extensive governance expertise and at least 10 years of experience in conflicts and professional responsibility within major law firms. The position is currently remote, but candidates must be licensed and reside in California or Washington, DC, with the flexibility to work on-site as needed. Candidates must have an active and good-standing bar membership in either California or DC. The selected attorney will be responsible for handling various governance functions, including drafting and reviewing engagement letters, audit letters, ethical waivers, and conflict waivers. Responsibilities also involve establishing and maintaining ethical walls and information barriers, and conducting reviews and analyses for new business intake. Additionally, managing conflicts for incoming attorneys, professionals, and lateral hires is a core part of the role. The client requires candidates who have extensive experience supporting law firm governance functions and familiarity with of counsel guidelines. Preferred candidates would have a location preference in Los Angeles with the requisite California bar license, where they will train two new Governance Attorneys in the office. Alternatively, candidates may be based in Washington, DC, requiring a DC bar license, and will be assigned to the DC office. Experience in training or mentoring, especially within a governance or conflicts group, is highly desirable for this position. Candidates must be adaptable to changing demands and capable of providing expert guidance within the firm's governance framework.
