Job Overview The CV Invasive Specialist performs duties necessary for cardiac catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level requiring proctoring and supervision of technical detail. The Specialist conducts a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required. Shift Details 36 hours per week; 4x 9‑hour shifts Share on call obligations on nights, weekends, and holidays (requires 30‑minute response time) Regular lab hours 7:00 am‑4:30 pm Monday‑Friday Call hours 4:30 pm‑7:00 am with 24‑hour coverage Saturday, Sunday, and holidays Unit Details Provide care to patients undergoing Cardiac, Electrophysiology, and Structural Heart procedures 4 state‑of‑the‑art cath labs plus one hybrid room Collaborative culture with tight‑knit, cohesive team Teams of 3 persons: RN, scrub tech, and an additional tech or nurse Documentation via Epic and MacLab Combination of RN conscious sedation and anesthesia Essential Functions Participate in procedure room preparation and post‑procedure turnover. Acquire specific knowledge of invasive, diagnostic, and interventional supplies, including inventory control. Document hemodynamic recordings, calculations, and interpretations. Provide patient education and emotional support for patients and their families; ensure patient comfort. Foster teamwork and cohesiveness with team members and physicians. Develop knowledge of cardiopulmonary pathophysiology, pharmacology, anatomic anomalies, and treatment options. Assess the patient, document, and inform physician of deviations from normal criteria throughout the procedure. Apply principles of x‑ray generation and safety. Operate imaging equipment correctly. May mix and administer medications under physician direction (RCIS or RCES required to pass medications), pursuant to state laws. At the end of the procedure, may apply closure device, suture the sheath, or remove the sheath and apply pressure to achieve hemostasis. Provide thorough and accurate documentation of each procedure and associated events. Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot equipment in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Perform point‑of‑care testing and QA. Scrub, circulate, and monitor in diagnostic, interventional, and CRM procedures according to scope of practice documents. Complete procedure data entry; acquire and process imaging studies, hemodynamic assessment and calculations, intra‑procedure CathPCI registry requirements, and prepare procedural reports. PALS certification for children’s hospitals or ACLS certification for adults; new employees must obtain within 3 months of start. Bachelor’s degree in health science with six months of healthcare experience (e.g., cath lab, EP, EMT, paramedic, CNA, surgical tech) OR graduate of Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or Nursing program OR graduate of a diploma/associate program in health science with one year of healthcare experience OR graduate of a non‑programmatically accredited invasive cardiovascular technology program with at least one year of specialty training and 800 clinical hours; degree must be verified. Intermediate computer skills. Current license, where applicable. Surgical Tech/Assistant certification per state requirements. Fluoroscopy operator certification required in Colorado. Preferred Qualifications – Specialist I Two or more years of CV Invasive training experience. Minimum Qualifications – CV Invasive Specialist II Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers. PALS/ACLS certification within 3 months of start. Registration as RCIS or RCES or ARRT‑CI/ARRT‑VI (or RN with prior RN experience) from March 1, 2026. Demonstrated expertise in performing complex diagnostic and advanced interventional procedures or proficiency in EP procedures based on experience. Minimum 12 hours of CME credits per year. Demonstrated clinical competence of CVIS/RCES skills evidenced by skills sign‑off. Surgical Tech/Assistant certification per state requirements. Fluoroscopy operator certification required in Colorado. Preferred Qualifications – Specialist II Bachelor’s degree in health science program from an accredited institution. Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or Respiratory Therapy program. One year of invasive cardiovascular technology or EP experience (excluding training). Physical Requirements Must be able to see and read information, labels, and assess patient needs; operate monitors; identify equipment and supplies. Must frequently verbalize, hear, and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately during emergencies. Requires manual dexterity for manipulating complex equipment, computer use, typing, medication preparation. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients; bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, including heavy items. Must walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and distributing supplies; may push/pull gurneys and equipment, including heavy items. May need to stand in a stationary position for extended periods. For driving roles: requires driving vehicle with ability to sit, see, and read signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles. Location St. Marys Regional Hospital – Grand Junction, Colorado Working Hours 36 hours per week; hourly rate $39.16 – $60.42, based on experience.
