Shop Operator II - Verdi, NV

Hourly Range: $28.00 - $30.00 **All Applicants must comply with ITAR requirements. US Citizens or Permanent Residents only.**

SUMMARY

Operator II position is the next level up from Operator I. Operator II can be the lead operator of a press if there is not an assigned Operator III at the press. It is the responsibility of Operator II to oversee the supporting functions of the press crew to achieve daily press goals in safety, quality, and productivity. Equipment Skills Level Requirements = minimum 14 (internal skills matrix) with a minimum of moderate level at 1 piece of equipment.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES

• All functions of Operator I
• Operate forklift/manipulator at an expert level
• Able to assist in the basic training of new employees
• Identify problems and troubleshoot them to determine permanent solutions
• Responsible for knowing and achieving daily standard production hours and

efficiency goals

• Understand and identify forging defect types
• Understand job traceability and how to maintain it
• Oversee and participate in 6S, FOD, Haz Waste procedures daily and maintains a

clean and safe working environment

• Clock in/out of jobs in ERP system to record time spent on jobs
• Identify and report quality problems through Discrepancy Reports
• Communicate with the previous/next shifts operators or supervisors the safety,

quality, and productivity issues for the day • Responsible for: o the safety, quality, and productivity of the work center o knowing and achieving daily standard production hours goal o knowing and achieving scrap and rework goal • Other duties as assigned.

EQUIPMENT

PRESS (3200, 8K, 15K)

• Load and unload material without supervision
• Perform press setups
• Perform moderate spray techniques
• Moderate understanding of furnaces, temps and loading
• Moderate understanding of die setups
• Able to produce a complaint part within allowable standard
• Able to shut down and identify faults

SAW (STOCK, TRIM, TABLE)

• Saw finish forgings and preforms with complex contours and curves within the allotted standard production time • Measure and record D1 inspection points for stress relieve products when required • Determine part acceptability with the use of templates, fixtures, go-no-go gauges • Fabricate tooling or fixtures to improve quality and productivity of saw operations for individual forgings • Perform advanced maintenance on saws such as changing wheels, roller guides, and lubrication pumps. • Layout and saw simple to moderately complexity perform to Weber Metals quality and productivity standards • Determine part acceptability with the use of templates, tape measures, and Vernier calipers • Visually or physically determine surface roughness of sawed surfaces

DIE MAINTENACE

• Ensure used dies are replaced in their designated storage area
• Ensure dies are loaded and furnace space is maximized to effectively execute

to the DF press schedules • Inspect, clean, and perform advanced maintenance on dies/tooling in accordance with WM best practice post forging operations • Maintain die-heating furnace inventories at start and end of shift; ensure all components of tools are loaded • Document/record process information as required for the job such as soaking times and die temperatures

ETCHLINE

• Add specified amounts of chemicals to equipment at required times to maintain solution levels and concentrations • Measure and record the required variables affecting etch quality including but not limited to etch removal rate, times and temperatures, chemical concentrations, or IGA/EGP testing daily. • Provide basic maintenance to etch line carriers, racks, and baskets as required • Coordinate with maintenance for compliance and adherence of the tank cleaning schedule • May be required to drain tanks or secondary containment; may need to respond to chemical or acid spills using appropriate onsite spill response protocols • Participate in NADCAP and Customer Audits as it pertains to the Etch Line

REPAIR

• Understand how to completely remove forging defects in blockers through grinding, sanding, or polishing and properly blending to not cause a defect in a subsequent operation

• De-burr sharp edges on parts
• Repair blockers hot and in the “black” for forging re-load operations
• Execute 5S, FOD, Haz Waste procedures daily

RING MILL

• Configure mill in setup mode and make setup without supervision
• General knowledge of mandrels and other ring mill tooling
• Able to assist operator with ring rolling unsupervised
• Understand work zones, soak times, ramp up times, furnace set point and high

limit settings • Perform basic ring mill loading practices

MATERIAL HANNDLING

• Load and unload trucks without supervision
• Record material transfer between plants without guidance
• Able to correctly organize and stack pallets without supervision
• Certified to receive raw material

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must: o Be able to comply with ITAR and EAR residency requirements o Meet all the requirements of Operator I o Be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

o High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience o Minimum 9 months experience as Operator I or equivalent at Weber Metals or equivalent experience. o Score minimum of 10 on the skills matrix
