Senior Database Analyst: Data Governance, Synapse & BI

Key Skills Backup & Recovery Advanced Data Governance (masking, archival) Data Visualization (advanced analytics) Cross-functional Collaboration Stakeholder Communication Technical Documentation Job Summary The Department requires an experienced Database Analyst to manage various types of information technology projects, including but not limited to database administration and maintenance, performance optimization, security and compliance, data integrity and management, project-based tasks, support and troubleshooting. The analyst will recommend tools such as analytical tools, software, hardware upgrades and replacements, business intelligence, strategic planning, information security, and work alongside cross-functional teams on data governance administration. The role involves training, automation, and ensuring that requirements are clearly defined and aligned with project objectives, as the analyst modernizes and automates current systems such as Azure Synapse and the Data Warehouse. Key Responsibilities To accomplish the work outlined above, FDACS requires an experienced Database Analyst with the following skills and experiences listed below. This list is not exhaustive; nor are all skills required. Technical skills, written and verbal communication, and experience will be the basis for evaluation of responses to the RFQ. Minimum Qualifications 10+ years of IT business/industry work experience. 5+ years of experience with SQL Server and/or Oracle database management systems. Experience with Sun Solaris operating systems and Oracle WebLogic. 5+ years of experience supporting multiple services and multiple databases of medium to high complexity with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of data. Hands‑on experience using Azure Synapse, Data Warehouse, DevOps or GitHub. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with Department staff. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience utilizing BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) to provide insights and support decision‑making. Technical proficiency with T‑SQL, PL/SQL, and other database languages. Strong leadership skills and experience working with cross‑functional teams. Preferred Experience Extensive Oracle database administration, 2019 Certified Professional, and/or Certified SQL Server Professional. Experience leading the planning, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of Oracle relational database management systems. Experience leading the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Sun Solaris operating systems and Oracle WebLogic and/or SQL Server, including Fusion Middleware, Apex, and Solaris. Experience working in a Unix environment. Extensive architecture training and experience diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex problems pertaining to the database infrastructure. Extensive experience writing PL/SQL, SQL, and Oracle stored procedures, functions, packages, and database triggers and/or SQL Server. Extensive experience in designing logical databases and data models. Knowledge of data privacy and protection initiatives. Educational Qualifications Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, management information systems or equivalent.
