Daily work also includes accurate documentation within the EMR, timely image submission to PACS, and clear communication with radiologists and ordering providers. A typical day may involve rotating between scheduled outpatient exams and unscheduled inpatient or emergency studies, depending on the department's focus. You may assist with trauma cases, support surgical and interventional procedures, and adjust to changing priorities based on patient acuity. Patient populations may include pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients, requiring flexibility and a compassionate approach to care. Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on departmental needs, with options for 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts where available. Patient volumes and ratios are managed to support both quality care and efficient throughput, with technologists working closely with support staff, nurses, and radiologists to keep the department running smoothly.
