Completes established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned. Responsibilities Assesses nutritional status of the patient based on information gathered from the medical record, patient, family, and other health‑care team members. Identifies and provides for the teaching needs of patients and families utilizing appropriate educational material and arranging for the most suitable environment possible. Performs nutrient intake analysis. Performs nutrition screening and assesses patients identified as having high nutrition risks. Participates in developing policies and procedures related to providing nutrition care and patient tray services. Assigns appropriate nutrition care tasks to dietetic technicians. Acts as a preceptor for dietetic interns and dietetic technician students when required. Relieves employees in the diet office as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in dietetics or related field from an ACEND accredited program. Preferred Education: Masters or Doctorate Degree in nutrition/dietetics or related healthcare field. Minimum Experience: 3‑5 years post credentialing (may substitute a Master’s or Doctorate degree for the experience). Required Certifications / Licensure: Current licensure by the Texas State Board of Examiners for Dietitians (or within 90 days from registration if newly licensed). Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, and Advanced Certification (CNSC, CDE, CSP, CSG, CSSD, or CSR).
