Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy TechnicianUnder the direct supervision of New Horizon Family Health Services Lead Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician shall assist the Pharmacist in performing all routine tasks and in managing and coordinating all aspects of the Pharmacy Department in accordance with established policies and procedures set forth by the Corporation and within the constraints as stated by the State Board of Pharmacy Act.Duties Performed:Assist patients who are dropping off or picking up prescription ordersCreate a profile of the patient's demographic and insurance information in the computer or update the patient's profileAssist the pharmacist in providing effective, appropriate, and safe pharmacy serviceAssist the pharmacist in preparing prescriptions; select drug or device, place meds in suitable container, appropriately label Rx container.Accept written or electronic prescriptionsReceive and initiate verbal telephone ordersConduct prescription transfersReceive verbal request from patients for available refillsPerform initial interpretation of licensed practitioner prescription ordersAt point of sale, verify that customer receives correct prescription(s)Check in wholesale orders, place merchandise on shelves and verify all associated paperworkScreen telephone calls for the pharmacistCheck for drug outdates; pull from shelf, adjust inventory; process return paperworkStock automatic dispensers (if applicable to location)Return Rxs to stock according to pharmacy procedureCommunicate with prescribers and their agents to obtain refill authorizationMaintain knowledge of loss prevention techniquesMaintain orderly workflow for pharmacy staffMaintain accurate cash register sales and recordsEnter prescription orders into the computerCommunicate with insurance carriers to obtain payment for prescription claimsAssist the pharmacist with filling and labeling prescriptionsPrepare and maintain the pharmacy inventoryCompound oral solutions, ointments and creamsMaintain an awareness of developments in the community and pharmaceutical fields that relate to job responsibilities and integrate them into own practiceAssist in training new pharmacy employeesAssist other pharmacy techniciansQualifications:Must have successfully completed High School or GED equivalent.Must have successfully completed a pharmacy technician training program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) per SC Board of Pharmacy regulationsRequirements:Must have State Certified Pharmacy Technician registration in good standing with the SC Board of PharmacyMust have a current National Pharmacy Technician Board Certification (PTCB or ExCPT)Experience:Minimum 3 years pharmacy technician experience preferred.Benefits and Perks: New Horizon Family Health Services offers a robust and comprehensive benefit package to full time employees.Automatic: Annual LeaveSick leaveUp to 12 Paid Holidays plus your birthdayEligibility for 2 annual bonuses after 1 year of employment when defined eligibility criteria are metContinuing education courses through SC AHECVarious employee discounts.
