About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 18:45 - 07:15 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2+ years License: Active RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Candidates must possess stepdown experience. Candidates must have telemetry experience. Description: The unit primarily serves patients undergoing cardiovascular and vascular surgeries. Common procedures include open heart surgeries, thoracic lung surgeries, and esophagogastrectomy. Patients may also present with medical cardiology diagnoses such as heart failure and sepsis. The unit features 40 stepdown beds and includes approximately 100 staff members. A typical day shift has one charge RN, 13 RNs, and four patient care technicians. On night shift, there is one charge RN, 13 RNs, and four patient care technicians. The patient-to-RN ratio is 1:5, while the ratio for patient care technicians is 1:13. Equipment utilized includes IV pumps, epidural pumps, and lifts. Experience with typical procedures is preferred, including epidural management and chest tube management. Candidates should be comfortable managing IV medications and cardiac medications. The ideal candidate is a team player who enjoys a fast-paced environment and is flexible with scheduling. Weekend requirements include a minimum of six weekend shifts within a six-week period. There are no on-call requirements or holiday work expectations.
