Job Summary:
An Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Registered Nurse (RN) opportunity is available in Kansas City, Missouri. This role involves providing specialized patient care for postoperative and complex medical-surgical patients, including those with bariatric surgery, urology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and trauma diagnoses. Candidates must bring their license on the first day to be considered for this position.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid compact license, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification, 2 years of experience in a similar setting, travel experience required, proficiency in Epic electronic medical record system.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with bariatric surgery, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), epidural analgesia, feeding tube care and management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions with PPE, management of surgical drains, use of Rapid Response and Code teams, wound care and wound vac management, and ICU or step-down unit experience.
• Float: Regular floating within scope between departments, units, and facilities may be required as needed.
• Additional Information: The patient population includes surgical and trauma patients requiring complex post-operative pain management (epidural, PCA, ketamine infusion, lidocaine). Many patients will have multiple drains, Wound Vacs, and long-term catheters, requiring comprehensive clinical skills. The assignment start date is 07/13/2026, with guaranteed minimum hours, and a 6-week schedule requiring 8 weekend shifts.
