AMA Certified Medical Assistant

Overview: Join a dedicated healthcare team supporting both administrative and clinical needs of physicians and licensed medical staff in a busy outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine clinic located in the Southeastern United States. This full-time, day-shift role offers a $7,500 sign-on bonus and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with obtaining patient vital signs and updating medical records accurately.
- Collect and process point-of-care, lab, and pathology samples following established protocols.
- Perform quality and safety checks on waived testing equipment and supplies.
- Provide patient education under provider guidance.
- Administer treatments, dressing changes, medications, and therapies as ordered by licensed providers.
- Support providers during procedures and examinations, including chaperoning and setup.
- Handle and prepare reusable instruments for sterilization and dispose of biohazardous waste according to OSHA standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment by adhering to infection prevention standards.
- Manage front desk duties such as greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and assisting with coding and billing processes.
- Coordinate with external healthcare partners to support patient care plans.
- Monitor electronic health record communications and respond promptly.
- Perform components of well visits and scheduled nursing visits as directed.
- Float to other clinics as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with successful certification from recognized organizations such as CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Preferred: Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in an outpatient setting.
- Ability to recognize and respond to life-threatening situations and activate emergency services.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, staff, and providers both in person and via phone.
- Physical capability to perform clinical tasks including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Comfort with potential exposure to blood and other infectious materials.
