Phlebotomist III - Floater

Pay Range: $18.50hr - $23.50hr


Job Overview:


The Patient Services Representative III-Floater (PSR III) represents the organization to patients seeking health routine services or insights into life-defining health decisions. The PSR III draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. The PSR III has direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The candidate will demonstrate leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence skills and maintaining sensitivity to confidentiality and patient information accuracy. Successful applicants may be assigned to a physician's office, a patient service center, or mobile coverage as business needs dictate.


Responsibilities:


Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time. Maintain a safe and professional environment. Perform with confidence both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures. Perform verification of patient demographic information and initials, including securing patient signatures post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct. Maintain required records and documentation. Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.

• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• Committed to all policies and procedures, including organizational dress code, employee health and safety, and core operational principles.
• Must be able to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record.
• Travel and flexible hours required to work across multiple locations and cover at patient service centers or in-office locations with minimal notice.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Must demonstrate superior customer focus, strong verbal and written communication skills with peers, supervisors, and patients, the ability to adapt to change, and sound operational knowledge.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Medical training (such as medical assistant or paramedic training) is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred, except where required by state regulations.

Work Experience:

• 3+ years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• 2+ years of experience in a patient service center environment preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
• Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry.
