At Mood Health, we are working to make mental health care easier to access. For many people, reaching out for help is a big step. Our goal is to make that step feel simple, supportive, and welcoming. Our clinicians, including psychiatric nurse practitioners and therapists, provide therapy and medication management through secure video visits. Before someone ever meets their provider, they usually speak with someone on our team first. That first conversation matters. As a Behavioral Health Patient Experience Specialist, you'll often be the first person someone speaks to after deciding to seek mental health care. Your ability to listen, build trust, and help patients feel supported can make a lasting impact on their care journey. If you're pursuing a career in behavioral health, counseling, psychology, social work, or marriage and family therapy, this role offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience while helping people access care every day. About the Role We are looking for a compassionate, motivated, and organized Behavioral Health Patient Experience Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for someone pursuing a degree in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or another behavioral health field who wants meaningful experience working directly with individuals seeking mental health care. We also offer flexible scheduling that can work around your class schedule, making this a great opportunity for students looking to gain relevant experience while completing their education. You'll serve as the first point of contact for prospective patients referred by our healthcare partners, helping them understand our services, answer questions, navigate insurance and scheduling, and guide them toward beginning treatment. You'll develop valuable skills in patient communication, motivational interviewing, behavioral health operations, care coordination, and working alongside licensed mental health professionals—all while making a real difference in people's lives. This role is a good fit for someone who is self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working toward clear goals. Our team has monthly scheduling goals, so we’re looking for someone who can stay on top of their work, communicate well with patients, and contribute to the team’s overall goals. What You'll Do Be the first point of contact Speak with individuals seeking mental health care and create a welcoming, supportive first impression. Help patients access care Guide patients through scheduling their first therapy or psychiatry appointment while answering questions about insurance, provider availability, and the treatment process. Build trust Many people feel anxious, overwhelmed, or uncertain about starting therapy. Your ability to listen with empathy and provide reassurance can help patients feel comfortable taking the next step. Support patients throughout the scheduling process Proactively follow up by phone, text, and email to answer questions, remove barriers, and help patients successfully schedule care. Learn behavioral health operations Gain firsthand experience working within a growing behavioral health organization while collaborating with therapists, psychiatric providers, care coordinators, and healthcare partners. Manage a fast-paced workflow Handle multiple conversations and scheduling requests while staying organized across several technology platforms. What We're Looking For Bilingual Spanish preferred (or required if applicable) Bachelor's degree required. Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in: Psychology (BA or BS) Social Work (MSW) Marriage & Family Therapy (MFT) Professional Clinical Counseling (LPCC) Counseling Psychology Behavioral Health or related field Passion for helping people access mental health care Strong interpersonal and communication skills Empathetic, patient, and able to build rapport quickly Comfortable speaking with individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, or uncertainty Organized and able to manage multiple conversations simultaneously Comfortable learning new technology and CRM systems Experience working in customer service, healthcare, patient services, or call centers is a plus Interest in pursuing a long-term career in behavioral health is highly encouraged Why Join Mood Health Gain meaningful behavioral health experience Work alongside therapists, psychiatric providers, and healthcare professionals while learning how behavioral healthcare is delivered in a modern telehealth environment. Prepare for your future clinical career Develop real-world skills in patient engagement, communication, care coordination, motivational interviewing, behavioral health workflows, and navigating insurance and healthcare systems. Make an immediate impact Every patient you help schedule is someone taking an important step toward improving their mental health. Learn from experienced clinicians Become part of a collaborative environment where you'll gain exposure to mental health treatment, interdisciplinary care, and patient-centered communication.
