Senior Accountant

Title : Senior Accountant Location : Maple Grove, MN Job Type : Permanent Compensation : $70,000 - $90,000 Annually Industry : Manufacturing Overview Our firm is partnering with a growing manufacturing organization in Maple Grove, MN to identify a hands-on, self-motivated Senior Accountant to join their tenured accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative, small-company environment where initiative, ownership, and versatility are valued. Responsibilities Lead and manage accounting-related projects, including establishing processes, tracking financial activity, and ensuring accurate reporting. Perform and support month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis. Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax returns across approximately 30 states. Assist with general ledger maintenance and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Support inventory and manufacturing accounting activities, including inventory transactions, material costs, and purchase price variances. Analyze financial data and identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies. Collaborate with internal departments to support accounting and reporting needs. Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions during vacations or other absences. Assist with audits, reporting requirements, and special projects as needed. Maintain compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Strong understanding of general accounting principles and month-end close processes. Experience with sales and use tax reporting, including multi-state filings. Exposure to manufacturing and inventory accounting environments. Understanding of inventory concepts, material costing, and purchase price variances. Ability to manage projects independently and drive tasks to completion with minimal supervision. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across departments. Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel. Ability to work onsite in Maple Grove, MN. Preferred Qualifications: Experience within a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with ERP systems such as MAX (ECi Macola), Great Plains, or similar platforms. Experience working in a small or mid-sized company where employees wear multiple hats and support various accounting functions. A proactive, mature approach with a willingness to take ownership and step in wherever needed.
